UKPCCI assures modern facilities to members

LONDON: The UK-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UKPCCI) has plan to start fresh lobbying in Britain to bridge trade and commerce gap between Pakistan and the UK, said Abdul Majeed Shaheen, President UKPCCI while briefing members and media about annual program.
UKPCCI Chairman, Haji Siddiq, Secretary General Ghulam Murtaza, ex-President Razi Khan, Vice President Nazar Lodhi, Finance Secretary Shahid Mirza, Directors Attaul Haq and Suhail Siraj also took part in the program about next program.
Shaheen said chamber has formatted committees in different departments of UKPCCI to make the annual program of year 2013-14 a success, which will work on membership, holding program during the year, Websites, sponsors and press and media.
He said according to annual program UKPCCI will work on membership and the target would be to bring renowned Pakistan business man across the UK under the banner of UKPCCI. Chamber will approach all small, medium and large businesses and hold television talk show on monthly basis, in which experts will suggest best ways for investment, he added.
The Chamber in its annual program suggest the business community to ensure their presence in television talk shows by raising questions regarding their business and regarding the UKPCCI, he said, adding that UKPCCI will make contact with trade organizations which are promoting Pakistan either they are in Britain, Europe or anywhere.
It was indicated in the future plan of UKPCCI, the chamber has no office and the advisory board has devised a plan to purchase a building for Chamber office and media and community support is required for this purpose.
It was made clear in the future plan on behalf of UKPCCI President that PHC and Pakistani media will remain right hand of chamber, as development is not possible without these two institutions.
Regarding the UKPCCI membership it was made clear that only registered businessmen can be part of the chamber and members can be given cards and other facilities, like getting 50% discount in 5 star hotels.
UKPCCI counters would be established at airports in Pakistan so that members would be facilitated
Abdul Majeed Shaheen said first priority of UKPCCI is to resolve problems of the community and Overseas Ministry hold meetings with Inspector Generals of all provinces and it was decided any application coming with letter-head of UKPCCI should be given priority.

Majority of journalists from Pakistan Press Club UK and Pakistan Journalists Association attended this event held at Mumtaz Restaurant Baker Street London.
