BRUSSELS: On the occasion of International Human Rights Day addressing a seminar organized by EU Kashmir Council, Chairman Parliamentary Kashmir Committee Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Chairman Friends of Pakistan Group in European Union Dr Sajjad Karim said India has failed to convince world on its false claim of declaring Kashmir as integral part. But people who have not taken Kashmir issue at international forums were not hold accountable in Pakistan, they added.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Simla Agreement is not a hurdle or barring the raising Kashmir issue at international forums. Resolutions of United Nations and other organization are clear on Kashmir issue and declaring Kashmir as a disputed territory, he added.
“A European Ambassador in Islamabad told me to increase trade with India and give most favored nation (MFN) status to India. I have responded that Pakistan is not against trade with neighbors but there are issues unresolved with neighbors”, he said, adding he has also told the ambassador that agriculture is back-bone of Pakistan’s economy and if India stops water it will ruin the agriculture of the country.
Maulana said India is not talking on the core issue of Kashmir and when Pakistan is asking world community to help resolve the issues impending with India, they are showing back. West has adopted dual standards on various issues and modern world has created its own institutions and laws to protect its interests, he added.
He said these institutions and laws created by developed nations are affecting the poor countries and third world countries do not have right to use its own resources.
Maulana said Pakistan is an important and respectable country with regard to defence, but world powers are asking Pakistan to sign treaties which they are not signing themselves. He said the so-called champions of human rights who are teaching others are themselves big violators of human rights.
He said they have made security issues strategic issues and one can see the situation prevailing in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and other Muslim countries.
He said the main problem of this era is the conflicts are increasing despite their resolution and world community has failed to resolve the issues of Palestine and give protection to suppressed people.
Dr Sajjad Karim talked on use of modern technology for resolution of Kashmir, misuse of blasphemy law and European thinking, problems of overseas Pakistanis.
Naghmana Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to EU, Deputy of Mission Khalid Jamali, Consular Ayub and HOC Muhammad Ayub Khan were also present on the occasion.
Later Labour Party Member European Parliament Afzal Khan also called on Maulana Fazlur Rehman and discussed various international and national issues including Kashmir.
